James 4:1-3; I Samuel 12:9, 24-25; II Samuel 1:27

Francesco Salviati - Mort de Saül et Jonathan; Death of Saul and Jonathan

James 4:1 From whence come wars and fightings among you? come they not hence, even of your lusts that war in your members?

2 Ye lust, and have not: ye kill, and desire to have, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war, yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

3 Ye ask, and receive not, because ye ask amiss, that ye may consume it upon your lusts.

It does not matter if individuals pray for military help for the nation if nationally the nation is defying the laws of God. That nation will be “sold” into the hands of the enemy and no matter how much strategists try to avoid the inevitable, there will be no escape until there is national repentance. Leaders must lead righteously. Otherwise, the nation will experience the reaping of unrighteous leadership as it boomerangs back on the nation itself.

I Samuel 12:9 And when they forgat the Lord their God, he sold them into the hand of Sisera, captain of the host of Hazor, and into the hand of the Philistines, and into the hand of the king of Moab, and they fought against them.

24 Only fear the Lord, and serve him in truth with all your heart: for consider how great things he hath done for you.

25 But if ye shall still do wickedly, ye shall be consumed, both ye and your king.

II Samuel 1:27 How are the mighty fallen, and the weapons of war perished!
