Because of the Fall in the Garden of Eden, mankind was separated from God.
No man could solve that problem.
God himself created the solution. He sent his son, Jesus, to bear the penalty for sin and to make a way for man to be reconciled to God.
II Corinthians 5:18 And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
19 To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.
Throughout the Old Testament, there is a theme of sacrifice for sin, and of a lamb being sacrificed.
In the New Testament, Jesus is recognized as the Lamb of God.
John 1:29 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
Revelation 13:8 [Jesus is] …the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

Revelation 17:14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.
I Timothy 6:14 That thou keep this commandment without spot, unrebukable, until the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ:

I Peter 1:18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
