There are those who consider Jesus to be a prophet and teacher, but do not understand why Jesus is God’s Son.
To understand, let’s go to the beginning.
God created the heavens and earth. God created man.
Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
God gave man responsibility and a command.
Genesis 2:15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it.
Genesis 2:16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.
Man disobeyed. This is called the Fall.
Genesis 3:6 And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.
In order to make a way for mankind to be redeemed from The Fall, God promised “the seed of the woman”.
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.
This was fulfilled in Mary, Mother of Jesus, who conceived by the Holy Spirit.
Luke 1:30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God. 31 And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS. 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David: 33 And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.
Matthew 1:20 But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. 21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. 22 Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel which being interpreted is, God with us.
And this is why Jesus is called God’s Son.
Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman made under the law, 5 To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.
More could be said.
