Why Did Jesus Come?

Why Did Jesus Come?

The Lord God created a perfect world.

The first couple, Adam and Eve, disobeyed a command of God. The Bible tells us that sin entered the world.

Romans 5:12 Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

The relationship between God and man was broken due to sin. First spiritual death, and later physical death, entered the world. This brokenness has been passed on generation after generation.

This situation is called the Fall of mankind.

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Fellowship with God had been broken. Adam and Eve had to leave home (Eden).

Genesis 3:23 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

This brokenness alienates mankind from the life of God. Originally, mankind was not alienated from fellowship with God. That fellowship was lost due to sin and the Fall.

Ephesians 4:18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God through the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart:

Jesus, God’s Son, came to pay the price to overcome and defeat the power of sin. The veil between God and man, symbolically represented by a veil in the temple, was torn from top to bottom after Jesus’s death, burial and resurrection. That indicates that mankind is now free to come to a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Mark 15:38 And the veil of the temple was rent in twain from the top to the bottom.

It requires an individual choice.

II Corinthians 3:16 (WEB) But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.
