That is a decision to make thoughtfully in prayer, asking the Lord to direct you.
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.
James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him.
There are at least two important points to consider.
One is, the church needs to recognize that people actively need to come to Christ to enter into the kingdom of heaven, in other words, we all need to be born again.
John 3:3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
As has been pointed out by others, sitting in a garage doesn’t make you a car.
Sitting in a church, or being a member of a church, is not equivalent to actually becoming a child of God.
John 1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
Another point to consider when looking for the correct local church home is that Paul likens the body of Christ to the human body. Wherever God leads you, it is not only because it is beneficial to your own growth, it is also beause you have a unique task in that local church that only you can fulfill.
I Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.
I Corinthians 12:18 But now hath God set the members every one of them in the body, as it hath pleased him.
Romans 12:4 For as we have many members in one body, and all members have not the same office: 5 So we, being many, are one body in Christ, and every one members one of another.
We should not go to church only to be served, to be fed spiritually, but also to serve.
Galatians 5:13 For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another.
I Peter 4:10 As every man hath received the gift, even so minister the same one to another, as good stewards of the manifold grace of God.
Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: 25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.
Again, where that applies for each individual is a matter of prayer.
But the right church will both lead people to Christ as well as be a place where each individual can serve as the Lord directs.
Ephesians 4:11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12 For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:
Colossians 3:15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
More could be said.
