Ephesians 4:10 He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.)
11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers;
There are several places in the New Testament which outline various gifts or offices given by Christ that operate within the church, within his people.
Ephesians 4:11 is one list, not the only one.
The question is, when two gifts or offices collide, which has precedence?
Typically, a pastor will be calling his sheep, his congregants, to love, prayer and good works.
Prior to the world of internet, the pastor’s voice would be the main teaching voice of the Word of God to his congregants.
In today’s world, voices come from all over. Congregants can hear many voices through many outlets. They can both see and hear.
Should a prophetic voice calling for war override a pastor’s voice calling for mercy, love, and good works? Does the prophetic have the right to take sheep from the pastor’s teachings on love and mercy in a different direction?
Luke 6:27 But I say unto you which hear, Love your enemies, do good to them which hate you,
28 Bless them that curse you, and pray for them which despitefully use you.
James 3:18 And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
A related point is the point of misunderstanding.
It is written that if the princes of this world, referring to satan, the god of this world, operating from the invisible world, had understood what would happen with Jesus’s crucifixion, which resulted in Jesus’s death, burial, resurrection and with Jesus now being seated as Lord and Christ, if they had understood that, they would not have gone through with inciting the people to crucify Christ.
I Corinthians 2:7 But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:
8 Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.
When it comes to prophecy, there have been misunderstandings and missed dates over the years.
Isaiah 55:8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts.
This realm was misunderstood by satan who in going along and inciting people to call for Christ’s crucifixion, ended up causing his own (satan’s) downfall.
Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. [This verse is in reference to the crucifixion and the victory of Christ over satan.]
John 20:24 But Thomas, one of the twelve, called Didymus, was not with them when Jesus came.
25 The other disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.
26 And after eight days again his disciples were within, and Thomas with them: then came Jesus, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be unto you.
27 Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands; and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side: and be not faithless, but believing.
28 And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.
29 Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.
Revelation 1:18 I [Jesus] am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.
Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
